Will Travis Kelce Make A Comeback This Season?

The man that’s arguably the most famous tight end in the world is coming off a season with 984 yards, five touchdowns and five touchdowns through the air for a team that captured its second straight Super Bowl across Kansas sports betting.

To dub such a performance as “subpar” would be extreme for most players in the NFL, but that’s just the level that 34-year-old Travis Kelce has set for himself in 159 games in the league, with 11,328 receiving yards, 74 scores and a career approximate value of 108 to date.

That’s exactly what Taylor Swift’s boyfriend is dealing with, however, as Kelce’s 2023 totals fell well short of his career averages when it comes to receptions (90.7), receiving yards (1,132.8) and touchdowns (6.9) prior to that 2023 campaign.

While Kelce and the Chiefs Super Bowl Odds are looking just fine in 2025, it’s worth wondering if the veteran tight end will return to the mean in the year ahead after a down year (by his standards) last season.

At BetKansas.com, we’re keeping an eye on Kelce to see if he can make a comeback this 2024-25 season. Using Pro-Football-Reference.com, we wanted to calculate the average receptions, yards, and receiving success rate to compare to his future performance this upcoming season.

It all starts with Chiefs vs Ravens Odds for Week 1.

Will Travis Kelce Bounce Back in 2024?

Again, it’s hard to call the type of season that Kelce had in 2023 “bad,” but it did fall well short of the career-to-date averages that the veteran out of Cincinnati has posted since he entered the NFL in 2013 as a 23-year-old.

Kelce’s touchdown total (five) was his lowest full season total since posting the same number in 2019 and only ahead of his four-touchdown figure in 2016, as the 2013 season doesn’t count as he only appeared in one game for Andy Reid and company.

Kelce’s 93 receptions a year ago were down sharply from the year before, when he hauled in 110 catches in 17 games for the Chiefs, cementing his place as one of the best pass-catchers in today’s NFL.

Between 2018 and 2022, Kelce eclipsed 100 receptions in three out of five seasons, with 2022’s total being the most of his career so far, though K.C. fans can only hope that the best is yet to come for the affable lad out of Westlake, Ohio.

For now, Kelce and the Chiefs will look to move to 1-0 for the year when they host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL regular season opener on Sept. 5, with two Super Bowl favorites tangling inside the hallowed grounds of Arrowhead Stadium on the outskirts of Kansas City on national television.
