We’re still a week-and-a-half away from the opening kickoff the NFL regular season, but excitement’s approaching a crescendo in football hotbeds like the Sunflower State, where the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs aim for the first “three-peat” in league history.
The Chiefs start that quest at home on Thursday, Sept. 8 against the Baltimore Ravens, with one of the NFL’s most talent-laden rosters looking the part of a Super Bowl favorite as the dog days of summer wind on. Stay up to date on the latest Chiefs-Ravens odds here ahead of kickoff.
In the meantime, it’s likely of little surprise to learn that Andy Reid’s bunch are currently the odds-on favorite to win it all, again, at most Kansas sportsbooks.
At BetKansas.com, we wanted to see what NFL teams offer fantasy team managers the best players based on the top 100 fantasy players and strength of schedule for QB, RB, WR, TE, K, and DST.
Rank | Team | Total Score |
1 | Chicago Bears | 52 |
2 | Jacksonville Jaguars | 50 |
T3 | Arizona Cardinals | 44 |
T3 | Green Bay Packers | 44 |
T3 | Tennessee Titans | 44 |
6 | Indianapolis Colts | 42 |
7 | Kansas City Chiefs | 38 |
8 | Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 37 |
T9 | Baltimore Ravens | 34 |
T9 | Philadelphia Eagles | 34 |
Across the NFL, the Chiefs’ fantasy total score of 38 ranks seventh overall, sandwiched between the Indianapolis Colts (42 points) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (37 points), but well behind league leaders like the upstart Chicago Bears (52 points) and Jacksonville Jaguars (50 points).
Kansas City’s weighed down by the team’s lack of top-end talent on the leaderboard by FantasyPros.com, with running back Isiah Pacheco being the top rated player on the team, ranking 26th overall in the league, while Patrick Mahomes (31st) and Travis Kelce (34th) are the next closest.
Throw in the fact that the Chiefs have middling returns when it comes to fantasy strength of schedule, ranking three stars out of five when it comes to the quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end position and two stars out of five at kicker and defense/special teams and you have a full synopsis of the areas that are dragging K.C. down when it comes to fantasy rankings.
Still, none of that will likely keep Reid and Mahomes up at night, as the Chiefs look like a surefire championship contender in the year ahead, starting with K.C.’s Arrowhead opener against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens on Sept. 8.
