Best NFL Teams In September

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

Few teams in NFL history have won more games across a five-year period than Andy Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs teams have between 2019 and 2024, with three Super Bowl titles and four berths in the Big Game during that stretch. Between 2019 and 2024, Reid’s bunch have won 64 games (to 20 losses), extending the franchise’s AFC West championship streak to eight in a row along the way, which is thanks in large part to K.C.’s success out of the gate in recent seasons.

Since 2019, the Chiefs have posted the best record in the NFL’s debut month of the regular season (alongside the Buffalo Bills), with a 12-4 record between 2019 and 2024 during September football games.

With that in mind, BetKansas.com broke down which NFL teams have fared the best in the ninth calendar month of the year, with the Chiefs standing atop the 32-team league when it comes to the opening stretch of the season.

Chiefs, Bills Set The Mark

Out of the 32 teams in the NFL across Kansas sports betting, only the Bills match K.C.’s September success rate, with both AFC stalwarts going 12-4 since 2019 during the month, with both teams beating out rivals like the San Francisco 49ers (11-4), Green Bay Packers (12-5) and Los Angeles Rams (11-5).

Conversely, the worst teams in the NFL during the month of September over the last half-decade have been the New York Jets (2-13), Houston Texans (4-11-1), Atlanta Falcons, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings — all of whom have gone 5-11 since 2019.

In 2024, it looks like there won’t be anyone standing in the way of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and company, as the Chiefs Super Bowl odds showcase.
