Two weeks of the NFL regular season, and of Kansas online sports betting on the nation’s most popular sports league, are in the books. So it’s time to stack up each of the 32 teams and where they stand early in the season.
Each year, players make an impact after being castoffs on NFL Draft weekend. These undrafted free agents found themselves on the outside looking in after 257 players were selected in late April. Known in the business as UDFAs, these undrafted players signed non-guaranteed contracts and worked their way up NFL depth charts the hard way.
Heading into another week of the 2024-25 season, BetKansas.com – home of the best Kansas sportsbook promo codes – is keeping an eye on undrafted players who have been signed to current rosters as part of our NFL betting insight. Using data from Spotrac.com and Pro-Football-Reference.com, we created a scoring system to rank the top 10 undrafted NFL rookies based on each player’s statistics, including percentage of available snaps taken for games in which the player appeared, total snaps, yards, and tackles.
Rank | Player (Team) | Score |
1 | Beanie Bishop Jr (PIT) | 159.8 |
2 | Matthew Hayball (NO) | 141.33 |
3 | Carson Steele (KC) | 72.64 |
4 | Brevyn Spann-Ford (DAL) | 46.39 |
5 | Elijah Chatman (NYG) | 43.32 |
6 | Maema Njongmeta (CIN) | 39.83 |
7 | British Brooks (HOU) | 39.71 |
8 | Mason Tipton (NO) | 38.26 |
9 | Amari Gainer (LV) | 37.61 |
10 | Rico Payton (NO) | 36.54 |
Chiefs running back Carson Steele remains in the top three of this week’s list of top UDFA pickups for the 2024 season. You can keep track of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl odds with us all season.
Steele has 27 yards on nine carries for the two-time defending Super Bowl champs this year. The rookie saw his snap count on offense increase from five to 14 between Week 1 and Week 2. And he has taken about half the snaps on special teams so far this season, according to the Pro Football Reference website.
Topping this year’s cast of UDFA players are Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr.. Bishop went from being undrafted out of West Virginia to picking up five tackles in his first two games for the club. Pittsburgh is 2-0 after a 13-6 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Second among UDFA standouts, according to our scoring system, is Matthew Hayball, a 27-year-old rookie punter out of Vanderbilt who is averaging 40.7 yards per punt for the New Orleans Saints.
Companies that operate Kansas sports betting apps offer dozens of prop bets on NFL games each week, but this list is exclusive to BetKansas.com.
Bevyn Spann-Ford of the Dallas Cowboys (46.39 points) and Elijah Chatman of the New York Giants (43.32) are the next closest candidates.
Of the top 10, Steele, out of UCLA, is the only UDFA rookie to play for the current odds-on Super Bowl favorite. The Chiefs currently have +450 odds of winning the Super Bowl on DraftKings Sportsbook Kansas going into Week 3.
