We’re on the precipice of the NFL season, which means millions of Americans are getting primed to plunk down some serious coin with their sports betting application of choice.
With football back in action and Kansas sports betting about to experience its second fall, BetKansas.com gathered data from Google Analytics to see which states are searching for “sports betting,” and most excited to bet on the games.
States With Most Sports Betting Interest
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about the state’s favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. Coming off a championship, the Chiefs Super Bowl odds are again tops in the league at +600.
Where Kansas Ranks Overall
The state of Kansas wound up tied with New York for the third highest search interest score (76) around sports betting — finishing behind national leader, Delaware (100), and wagering stalwart Nevada (80). The Sunflower State wound up ahead of states with much larger population bases, such as Florida (64), with Kansas finishing directly ahead of states like Kentucky and Mississippi (75 apiece) and Alaska (66).
This will be the second football season for legal Kansas sports betting apps. Wagering became legal in the state in September 2022, just in time for the first games of the college football season. Florida sports betting is tied up in court battles, while Kentucky opens retail wagering locations Thursday.
It likely helps the state’s ranking the Chiefs are coming off their second Super Bowl title in four years, having knocked off the Philadelphia in Super Bowl LVII in February. Kansas City opens its season Thursday against Detroit and is a 4.5-point favorite at BetMGM Kansas.
