The Kansas City Chiefs have a shot at an NFL first this season, with the two-time defending Super Bowl champs looking for the first “three-peat” in league history and bringing back the core of their roster in 2024. The Chiefs playoff chances are always a lock with their current core players involved.
Under legendary head coach Andy Reid and future Hall of Fame QB Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have torn apart opposing teams for much of the last decade, with three Super Bowls in four years and countless NFL records along the way.
Now, Reid and the Chiefs front office are tasked with keeping the train on the tracks, which is easier said than done in the NFL’s hard salary cap era, with 53 roster spots to choose from and only a finite amount of money to pass around.
With the post-June 1st deadline allowing teams to cut players and save more salary, BetKansas.com used our Kansas sports betting mindset and developed hypothetical odds of players to be cut from the Chiefs roster prior to the 2024 NFL season. Only players over $1 million in cap hit were included.

Breaking Down Our Cut Candidates
Right now, it looks like the two most likely players to be cut ahead of the league’s deadline are on disparate ends of the ball, in third-year wideout Skyy Moore (-250) and sixth-year defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs (-175).
Moore (-250) has struggled at times out of the gate as a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, with 43 catches for 494 yards and a touchdown in 30 NFL games to go with an approximate value of four, while costing the Chiefs $2.5 million against the team’s salary cap.
Buggs would save K.C. $802,000 if he’s cut prior to the deadline from his salary cap hit of $1.1 million, which is one of the reasons why the veteran is a leading candidate to be cut this offseason.
Throw in the fact that Buggs is currently facing animal cruelty charges and you have the full perspective on why the Chiefs might cut a player that’s never actually suited up for the club in the past, coming in at -175.
Other top cut candidates in K.C. are tight end Irv Smith Jr. (-125), wideout Kadarius Toney (+115) and offensive lineman Lucas Niang (+500) and you have the full rundown of the Kansas City players that could be on the outside looking in at the team’s final 53-man roster later this summer.
