Tie At The Top For Christmas Songs in Kansas

Two songs earned a search interest score of 10 to top our rankings: The classic “Santa Baby” and the newer seasonal hit, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

The original “Santa Baby” was recorded by the late Eartha Kitt and released in 1953. The lyrics made no bones about the narrator’s expensive tastes. The first line is “Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree for me” and goes on to wish for “A ’54 convertible too, light blue” and a yacht as well.

The other song tied at the top, Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” first reached the charts in 2000 – years after its initial 1994 release – but took nearly two decades to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time. It has been ubiquitous around the holidays ever since. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is once again No. 1 on the singles chart as of this writing (on Dec. 18, 2024). It is the first song ever to have six different reigns as the No. 1 song in the country, having re-ascended the charts to top the list each December since 2019.
