What States Rank High For Best Dad Jokes?

Father’s Day may be in the rearview mirror but that’s no excuse for the chicken to not cross the road, as International Joke Day is around the corner, providing the patriarch of the family to let loose with some groaners.  

Given that July 1 is International Joke Day, BetKansas.com wanted to break from Kansas sports betting to see what states have the best “Dad jokes.” Using Google Trends, we found and ranked states based on search interest scores for “Dad jokes.” The search was between June 10-17, 2024. The search interest score is compared to other topics.

Where Kansas Ranks

Among the 50 states that make up the U.S., Kansas’ search interest score of 71 in all things related to dad jokes ranked ninth overall, with the Sunflower State ranking just behind North Dakota (72 search interest score) and ahead of Minnesota’s search interest score of 71.  

Nationally, dad joke leaders included Utah (100 search interest score), Wyoming (85 search interest score), Idaho (83 search interest score), South Dakota (77 search interest score) and Nebraska (76 search interest score).  

Throw in interlopers like Oklahoma (75 search interest score) and Arkansas (74 search interest score) and you have the full rundown of the best states in America for dad jokes, which gives Kansas something to shoot for ahead of next year’s July 1 celebration of fatherly humor.  

While we still don’t know the answer to the age-old question of why the scarecrow won an award or what you call a fake noodle, we do know that dads in Kansas are ready to step up to the plate and bring some much-needed levity to the situation, no matter what that situation might entail.
