With the days of summer winding to a close and the crisp air of fall arriving closer by the day, that means it’s high time for us to turn our collective attention to the gridirons of the Sunflower State, where a pair of FBS programs will kick off seasons with meteoric expectations across Kansas sports betting in the coming weeks.
Between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kansas State Wildcats, residents of the state have two of the favorites to win the Big 12 in 2024, with the team at DraftKings Sportsbook Kansas giving K-State +380 odds of doing so, while listing KU at +950.
Those two figures give the Wildcats the second lowest Big 12 title odds, behind Utah’s +320, while KU ranks in a tie with UCF and Iowa State for fourth in the conference, behind Oklahoma State’s +750.
The Big 12 college football season kicks off this month. To see what team can offer the biggest bang for your buck, BetKansas.com ranked all 16 teams based on average ticket price for the home opener game, game experience rating, and the winning percentage at the first home game of the past five seasons.

Where Kansas’ Two Big 12 Teams Rank
When it comes to giving fans the most bang for their collective buck, Kansas’ two Big 12 schools leave something to be desired, as K-State ranked eighth out of 16 teams with a total score of 127.7, while KU finished 13th, at 118.3.
Across the conference, Cincinnati (156.0), Oklahoma State (138.7) and UCF (138.3) did the best job of giving their respective fanbases the most bang for their buck, while Houston (133.6) and TCU (133.0) rounded out the top five in the bloated Big 12.
Immediately ahead of K-State were schools like BYU (129.0) and Iowa State (128.0), while the Arizona Wildcats (127.1), Utah Utes (124.6), Texas Tech Red Raiders (123.6) and Baylor Bears (122.7) ranked between the two Kansas Big 12 programs when broken down by game day affordability.
Throw in schools like West Virginia (118.1), Colorado (116.3) and Arizona State (83.9) and you have the full breakdown of the most (and least) affordable game day experiences in the modern Big 12, with Kansas’ two universities ranking far from the top in the conference that they both call home.
