The fourth retail Kansas sports betting site opened its doors to the public over the weekend, bringing the full DraftKings experience to Dodge City’s Boot Hill Casino.

The 2,500-square-foot sportsbook features a 17-foot video wall and an assortment of betting options, from traditional windows to kiosks and betting lounges for visitors to take in year-round.

The retail DraftKings Kansas Sportsbook joins the assortment of gaming options at Kansas’ first casino, with executives from the operator calling the new facility a can’t-miss spot for Kansas sports betting customers.

“It’s exciting to see our shared vision of bringing DraftKings’ innovative mobile app to life with an in-person experience at our new DraftKings retail sportsbook located at Boot Hill Casino & Resort,” Michael Kibort, Sr. Director, Retail Sportsbooks at DraftKings, said in a company press release. “Through the amazing collaboration with Boot Hill Casino & Resort, we have created a one-of-a-kind destination for guests in the Dodge City area that we believe they will enjoy for years to come.”

What DraftKings Adds To Kansas Retail Sportsbook Game

The formal opening of DraftKings’ retail sportsbook gives Kansas retail customers four options to choose from, joining Barstool’s location at Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, Caesars Sportsbook at Kansas Crossing and the FanDuel Kansas Sportsbooks location at Kansas Star in Mulvane.

Those retail facilities (in addition to DraftKings’ temporary sportsbook in Dodge City) contributed $8.176 million in handle during February, illustrating the importance of in-person wagering to the fledgling Kansas sports betting apps scene.

That importance isn’t lost on casino staff, like Boot Hill General Manager Diane Giardine, who discussed the DraftKings facility’s importance to the casino’s bottom line in a company release.

“This is the place to be for sports fans, where you can watch your favorite games while enjoying a comfortable and entertaining atmosphere,” Giardine said in the release. “We look forward to welcoming sports fans and creating unforgettable experiences for them.”

With more than $51 million in retail sports betting handle and more than $1 billion wagered statewide since opening day Sept. 1, Kansas sports betting has lived up to the billing for operators and regulators alike.

For Chris Reedy, who serves as the chief operating officer of Butler National Corporation (which runs Boot Hill Casino), the addition of DraftKings retail sportsbook to the facility’s existing products is a no-brainer for all involved.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Kansas legislators, administration and, regulators for timely bringing this opportunity to Kansans,” Reedy said in the release. “Consistent with our commitment to the Lottery, we believe that the DraftKings retail sportsbook will further promote tourism and travel to Western Kansas.”
