With the Chiefs capturing their second Super Bowl championship in four years in a 38-35 thriller over Philadelphia, it’s no surprise the Sunflower State’s sports betting scene was ablaze on game day.
Several Kansas betting apps users found a way to fare as well as Patrick Mahomes and company, with a representative of the lottery telling BetKansas.com one bettor won $7,000 off a $20 wager on the exact final score.
Super Bowl a Win for the Masses in Kansas
Kansas sports betting customers managed to net around $14.5 million in winnings Feb. 12, thanks in large part to the outsized efforts of players like Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Both Chiefs stars played a key role in one Kansas sportsbook user’s big day, turning a $300 wager on Kelce, A.J. Brown and Isaiah Pacheco to score touchdowns into $6,536 in winnings.
Other Big Game bets that paid out included one player’s $12,000 in-game wager on the Chiefs to win at +330, which earned them $51,600, along with a $300 multi-sport parlay on the Houston Astros, Georgia Bulldogs and Chiefs to win championships in their respective sports that won the user $30,000.
The overall sports betting handle breakdown for Kansas sportsbooks saw $22,318,611 wagered at one of the state’s online operators, with an additional $2,425,205 coming via the state’s retail sportsbooks.
Kansas online sportsbook customers raked in $12,647,107 in net player winnings from Super Bowl LVII, while retail users won $1,872,683. Kansas bettors can even start thinking about next year's wagers, as the Chiefs Super Bowl odds show them as favorites to repeat in 2024.

In terms of wagers just on the Super Bowl nationally, Nevada and New York led the way with $153.18 million and $123.78 million, respectively. New Jersey took roughly $109.3 million in bets on the NFL championship.
Pennsylvania reported $84.3 million in Super Bowl handle, while Colorado had $37.96 million and New Hampshire brought in $9.2 million in wagers.
Only a handful of legal sports betting states report Super Bowl-specific data.
